LED lights, are they that much better?

LED lights and energy savings:

Yes, Yes and Yes, LED lights are considered the most energy-efficient lighting technology available, using significantly less energy compared to traditional incandescent bulbs without the heat of incandescent bulbs. LED lights consume up to 75% less power while lasting considerably longer, making them a great option to save energy on your electricity bill.

LED lights and energy savings:

High energy efficiency:

LEDs convert a much larger portion of electrical power into light compared to other bulbs, producing minimal heat.

LED lights are brighter

LED lights are brighter than other types of bulbs while using less energy: Good quality LED fixtures now output around 170 lumens per watt; a fluorescent puts out around 110.

  • Lumen output: LED lights produce more light (lumens) per watt than other types of bulbs. For example, a 40W incandescent bulb produces 450 lumens, while a 40.5W LED bulb produces 4,000 lumens.

  • Environmental impact: LED bulbs are better for the environment because they use less energy.

  • Smart features: Some LED bulbs can sync with your smart home, voice assistant, or home security system.

LED lights work by passing electrons through a semiconductor diode. When the electrons fill holes in the diode, they release energy in the form of photons, or light. The brightness of an LED is determined by the current or the speed at which the electrons flow.

LED lights can become less bright over time due to heat, too much power, poor servicing, or bad wire connections.

Longer lifespan:

LED lights last significantly longer than traditional incandescent bulbs, meaning fewer replacements over time.
